ZONING REQUEST FOR REZONE FROM R-A to R-20 (CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES AND CHANGES INFORMATION)
It is my assumption that every household in Avendell may have received a notice from Anderson County Planning and Development dated March 20, 2025 regarding the April 8th public hearing to rezone the property butting up on the north side of
Avendell from R-A to R-20 to allow single-family residential.
I called the Anderson County Planning Commission this week and spoke with a Clenisha and her supervisor, Henry Youmans. As I learned from them, the April 8th Planning Commission voted 6-2 to deny the request for rezone. However, the Anderson County Council has the final say. The Anderson County Council hearing this matter is scheduled for May 6th. As of May 30th, the Anderson County is now saying this Community Meeting will be held sometime in July.
However, before the May 6th (will need to be rescheduled) meeting can happen, a Kimberly Kravits has to notify all property owners within 2,000 feet of the proposed zoning change and have a “Community Meeting” which would (may be) be at the Three and Twenty Fire Station with those choosing to attend, along with herself and the local builder from Anderson who has plans to put in 17 homes on lots of 20,000 +/- square feet with a price range of $400,000 to $500,000. If this Community Meeting does not happen before May 6th, then the May 6th Anderson County Council hearing will be moved out to another date.
If the request to rezone passes during the scheduled May 6th (will need to be rescheduled) Anderson County Council hearing (or what is referred to as the second meeting), the proposal moves on to a third, Anderson County Council hearing which will be held May 20th (will need to be rescheduled) Both meetings will be open to the public.
If you have a concern regarding this zoning change, I strongly encourage you to attend the Community Meeting (date unknown), and at minimum, the second Anderson County Council meeting which is currently scheduled to May 6th but subject to change if the Community Meeting does not happen timely!
For more information regarding TMS 164-00-02-126, contact the Planning & Development Office at 864-260-4719. If attending, please note, there is a Clear bag policy.
